About I Am Hungry
I Am Hungry is a small tool for one very specific problem: you're hungry, you don't know where to eat, and scrolling through a delivery app for twenty minutes isn't helping. Click "Let's Eat" and it picks one real, nearby restaurant for you.
How it picks a place
When you allow location access (or leave it on the default city), the site queries nearby restaurants using the Geoapify Places API — a third-party service that indexes real business listings, including name, address, and category. "Let's Eat" then picks one at random from that list. Click it again and it rotates to a different one instead of re-querying every time.
Craving search (experimental)
The "Craving something specific?" search takes what you typed, checks the websites of nearby restaurants that have one listed, and uses an AI model to look for an actual matching menu item in that text — it's instructed not to guess or invent a dish that isn't really there. It only works for restaurants with a website Geoapify has on file, and website menus that are readable as text (not, for example, a photo of a printed menu), so it won't always find something even if a place nearby does serve it.
Accounts and favorites
Creating an account (email + password) lets you save restaurants you've been sent to, so you can find them again later. It's optional — the core "Let's Eat" feature works without signing in.
