Privacy Policy

This policy covers what I Am Hungry (i-am-hungry.com) collects and why. There's no company or ad network standing behind this beyond what's described below — it's an independently run site.

Location

If you tap "Locate me," your browser asks permission and shares your coordinates directly with your device's geolocation API. Those coordinates are sent to Geoapify (a third-party places-search provider) to find restaurants near you and are not stored on our servers.

Accounts and favorites

Creating an account is optional and only requires an email address and password. Passwords are hashed before storage — we never store or can see your plain-text password. If you save a favorite restaurant, that restaurant's name, address, and a link to it are stored against your account so you can find it again. There is currently no self-service account deletion; if you'd like your account and saved data removed, this can be done manually on request.

Craving search

If you use the "Craving something specific?" search, the text you type and the public website text of nearby restaurant candidates are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to find a matching menu item. What you type is not stored after the request completes.

Advertising and cookies

This site uses Google AdSense to serve ads. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it.
